For actors, success is often measured through opening-day numbers, hit films and comparisons with fellow stars. However, careers do not always follow the same trajectory, and Sundeep Kishan recently highlighted the pressure young actors face to constantly prove their success. During the Hyderabad promotions of his upcoming film ‘Sigma’, the actor spoke about why performers should be allowed to celebrate their achievements instead of being repeatedly questioned about their box-office records or career comparisons.

Sundeep Kishan defends Faria Abdullah over success ratio questions

Sundeep Kishan came out in support of his ‘Sigma’ co-star Faria Abdullah after she was asked about her success ratio. The actor felt that the question overlooked the achievements she has already accomplished at a young age.“Don’t take this the wrong way, but the questions Faria was asked were really hectic. She came here happily because this is the biggest and best film of her career. But then she’s asked about her success ratio. She has done so much by 25: she has made so many films, bought a house and a car, and kept her parents happy. She has won awards, but no one’s talking about this,” he said.Faria appeared to appreciate Sundeep’s support and thanked him by tapping him on the shoulder after he spoke up for her.

Sundeep Kishan backs Anaswara Rajan against career comparisons

Sundeep Kishan also referred to a recent incident involving Anaswara Rajan, who faced questions comparing her career with that of her friend and fellow actor Mamitha Baiju. He argued that such comparisons can overlook the individual journey and struggles of actors.“A few days ago, another actress was asked similar questions at a press meet. She recently saw stardom, and I like her acting,” he said. The actor stressed that performers should be given the opportunity to celebrate their progress rather than being asked why their careers do not mirror those of other actors. Anaswara Rajan had earlier responded positively when asked about Mamitha Baiju, saying she was happy for her and that they were both rooting for each other.

Sundeep Kishan questions lack of support for Telugu talent

Sundeep Kishan subsequently broadened the discussion to the way Telugu actors and filmmakers are perceived when they achieve success outside the industry. Speaking about promoting ‘Sigma’ in Tamil Nadu, he said he was not questioned there about why he had been chosen for the film, whereas similar questions were repeatedly raised during promotions in Telugu.“If one among us is doing well outside, we should feel proud about it. But we dilute it with questions like these,” he said.Sundeep cited films such as ‘Baahubali’, ‘Pushpa’ and ‘Pushpa 2’ to underline his point, noting that major films can face doubts and scrutiny before finding a wider audience. ‘Sigma’, starring Sundeep Kishan, Faria Abdullah and Anaswara Rajan, is set to release in theatres on October 2. The film marks Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut.
