Anjali Anand, who featured in ‘Dhamaal 4’ alongside Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, and Arshad Warsi, recently revealed that her own mother wasn’t entirely won over by the film, dismissing it as a “one-time watch.” The candid exchange came up during a recent episode of Farah Khan‘s popular food vlog on YouTube, leaving viewers in splits.

During the vlog, Anjali Anand walked Farah Khan through how she bagged her role in ‘Dhamaal 4’. At one point, Farah turned to Anjali’s mother and asked, “Toh ‘Dhamaal 4’ dekhi ki nahi aapne? Maza aaya ki nahi? (So, have you watched ‘Dhamaal 4’ yet? Did you enjoy it?)”Anjali then recounted asking her mother directly for her opinion on the film. “Maine poocha, Mumma, kaisi lagi picture? (I asked, ‘Mumma, how did you like the film?)” she said, revealing that her mother’s blunt response had everyone in fits of laughter, “Achhi hai, one-time watch (It’s good, a one-time watch).”Not stopping there, Anjali went on to ask how her own performance had fared, questioning, “Beti kaisi lagi apni? (How did you like your daughter?)” Her mother’s equally unfiltered reply — “Hmm, theek hai (Hmm, she’s okay)” — left the room roaring with laughter.

Beyond the light-hearted banter, Anjali also opened up about a particularly challenging period in her life before she was cast in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’. She recalled hitting her lowest point in 2020, when acting work had dried up and she had even contemplated leaving India altogether.“Lockdown ho gaya tha, paise khatam ho gaye the… 6 mahina jitni savings thi ud gayi (Then the lockdown happened, and I ran out of money. Six months’ worth of savings were wiped out),” Anjali shared. During this difficult phase, while on a trip to Goa with friends, she received an unexpected call from casting director Shanoo Sharma, which eventually led to an audition opportunity for Karan Johar‘s film.Anjali’s mother also recalled being sceptical about her daughter’s chances at the time, given the lack of any industry connections. “Koi backing nahi hai, koi pehchan wala nahi hai (I had no backing, no connections, nobody I knew who could help me),” Anjali’s mother admitted, telling Farah, adding that she had told Anjali, “Badi aayi Karan Johar ko milne ja rahi hai. Tujhe kyun milega woh (Oh, look at her; she’s going to meet Karan Johar. Why would he even meet you)?”Despite her mother’s initial doubts, Anjali went on to land the role in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, a film that went on to become a defining moment in her career.
